An Open Face (3/4) motorcycle helmet is a step up in coverage and protection when compared to the half helmet. If we examine the pros and cons of this helmet as compared to other styles, like the half or full face helmet, we can evaluate the following features: Visibility, Face Coverage, Comfort, Price, and Protection. The rider’s visibility is pretty much preserved with the open face style – it’s almost as good as the half helmet. However, the face is not covered as it would be on full face or modular helmets. They are comfortable, and provide great protection to the cranium. The price is as you would guess; generally lower than full face but more than a half helmet. This helmet, like the half helmet, is great in urban environments where traffic can be heavy and speeds are relatively low – where the chance of flying debris is not too extreme. And, just like the half, this helmet should probably sit next to your other helmet, your full face or modular helmet.
